Kaizer Karachiwala
Principal Counsel and Global Lead for ESG (Legal) International Financial Corporation
Kaizer Karachiwala is Principal Counsel and Global Lead for ESG (Legal) at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. She has been with IFC since 2007 in various capacities including as a regional transaction lawyer working on infrastructure and equity investments across Asia and the MENA. She also served as Senior Advisor to IFC’s General Counsel & VP from 2018-2022.
As Global Lead for ESG, her scope of work includes: (i) reviewing and advising on legal and policy issues relating to the implementation of IFC’s E&S policies arising in IFC projects and related CAO investigations; (ii) analyzing and interpreting IFC’s ESG policies including the CAO Policy; (iii) advising on emerging ESG legal risks for the institution and appropriate risk mitigation.
Prior to IFC, she worked at one of the leading law firms in India in the project finance and banking practice advising foreign investors and international banks on investing and implementing projects in India.
